A Good Time To Pause And Say Thank You

As September 11, Patriot Day, has come and gone, we've had a moment to pause and reflect on how thankful we are for our service men and women and first responders alike. Grossenburg Implement would like to say thank you for your commitment of putting others first and keeping us safe. Recent hurricanes in Texas and Florida have also served as strong reminders of the selflessness of those willing to serve others.

Several of our staff members commit time outside of Grossenburg Implement to serve others. Whether you're on active duty, a volunteer fire fighter, first responder, EMT, police officer or in another public service position, Grossenburg Implement would like to say thank you for all that you do.

Update on our own Jay Welk…Leaving for Active Duty

This month my unit, C Co 1/189th AVN, will be deploying and I with them. I just wanted to say 'thank you' to the customers for their continued business since I have been a part of the Grossenburg Implement team for the past 3+ years. I look forward to seeing you all again when I return. I also want to thank Grossenburg Implement for supporting the United States Military and my family's journey through my military career. See you all next year.

Thanks,
Jay Welk

More than 90 Soldiers from the South Dakota Army National Guard's Company C, 1st Battalion, 189th Aviation Regiment have received a mobilization order for a yearlong deployment to Kuwait beginning in October. This includes our own sales representative, Jay Welk, who will be among the soldiers deployed in October.

Jay first joined the South Dakota Army National Guard on June 28, 2005 as a member of C Battery 1/147th field artillery in Redfield South Dakota. He later transferred to C Co 1/189th AVN in January 2011 when he started flight school.

Upon graduating flight school, Jay moved back to South Dakota and worked in Miller, SD as a John Deere service technician. In October of 2013, Jay moved to Pierre with his wife Tandra and he joined the Grossenburg Implement sales team. Last July they welcomed their daughter Ellie into the world and really made Pierre their home.

The mission of the Rapid City-based 1-189th is to provide aerial medical evacuation support with its HH-60M Black Hawk helicopters. The company is comprised of pilots, crew chiefs, medics, aviation operations specialists and other support personnel. The unit will report to Fort Hood, Texas, to complete several weeks of theater-specific training prior to deployment overseas. Since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, this will be the third mobilization for the unit which deployed to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn from 2011-2012 and supported peacekeeping operations in Kosovo from 2008-2009.

All of us at Grossenburg Implement salute Jay for his service and are looking forward to his safe return next year.
